I think this is the worst government the US has ever had in its more than 200 years of history. It has engaged in extradordinarily irresponsible policies not only in foreign policy and economics but also in social and environmental policy, . . This is not normal government policy. Now is the time for (American) people to engage in civil disobedience. I think it's time to protest - as much as possible.

Well, ladies and gentlemen...
Yesterday I lost my job. Budget cuts. Or rather, the same dope-smoking corporate brain donors that dreamed up the need for the position in the first place awoke from their stupor and realized that these positions were unnecessary and quickly moved to rectify the situation. But fret not. I obtained a new position today. Same company, same desk. Doing mostly the same stuff. New department. And actually more interesting work. Enough people liked the software I wrote that they set it up so that I could continue my work for at least the next couple of weeks. I will continue to write the same type of programs that I have been writing before, but now I don't have the distractions of doing all the stupid crap I had to do before. So I am happy about that.
The downside is that it is most likely only going to be for a couple more weeks. That, and the workload won't be very high, so it will actually be a little boring.
I have yet to decide what I will do afterwards, but I think I will just accelerate the timeline on my trip back to alaska. But I don't know.
we shall see.

At first I thought it was a joke... another BSB/Nsync parody clone, but closer inpection revealed its seriousness. Which only increased is humor. :)
If any of you ever see me doing something like that, please realize I have gone insane and deserve to be publicly, spectacularly put out of my misery.

well, i guess some people could use some divine intervention once in a while.

I thought this was interesting. Google news put this at the top. 3000 people died. Think of it. This was bigger than 9/11. And Michael Jackson was the headline. Does anybody else see how stupid this is?

hello everybody... I am glad to report that I am changing my email address. I have become one of the test users for the new Google mail service, and I think I will be making it my main account. I will still check jose3k@yahoo.com, but I am working on transferring control to the new one. you can now reach me at jeffgreen@gmail.com
Finally. An email address with my NAME in it...:)
BTW, thanks for the kind comments on the photos... It seems like all I see are the flaws. They are there in every picture I take, but I am glad that others can look past them.:)
I will get a film scanner eventually so that I can show people the rest of the pictures. There is still a long list of basic equipment that I need (good tripod, better lenses, darkroom, etc), but it is moving its way up the list.

Here I have posted a few of the slides I have scanned. I thought that these were the best of the ones I have taken. You can see a full resolution file of the first one at chadperkins.com/001.JPG (the caps in the file name are necessary, but were accidental) I have more I will post again sometime. These are all 35mm slides. 4x5 is extremely expensive to scan, so I haven't done it yet. It is also really expensive to print, so I haven't done that yet, either. I am looking at getting set up with a darkroom, but I have to live in one place long enough to do it, first.

It was I who took those pictures... they were taken in my apartment. The captions are actually Radiohead lyrics, except for the window picture which is referring to my paranoia that someone could be peering in my windows regardless of whether the shades are shut. There are times I actually refrain from doing anything that could be embarrassing, because of this paranoia. Silly, I know. I appreciate your compliments because I tend to be over-critical of my pictures/drawings/scupltures. Sometimes it takes a lot to muster up the courage to want to show my stuff to people, so again thanks for the compliments:)
I did get to see a few of your pictures. I think they were on slides...
I was impressed. I'm no good at landscape photography. You should definitely scan and post or bring some over the next time you're at Chad's. I'd like to see more...

anna- I was just curious... did you take these pictures? Where were they taken? I am a bit confused with the captions. What do they mean? Is it what you were thinking/feeling at the time? What are battery hens?
I especially like the one with the blinds and the caption "they can still see in. I refrain from doing anything because they could be looking in." The glass and light one is well composed. You have a good eye.
I don't know if you saw any of the photos I have taken when I was at Chad's last summer. Some are ok, most not, but I have added a few to my collection since then. I shoot exclusively film (mostly slides, some B&W prints), though I shoot in 35mm and 4x5 formats. The 4x5 is a TON of fun to use. Really makes you slow down and compose and think about what/how you are shooting. Downside is it is slow. If I set up and shoot in less than 20 minutes, I am making mistakes because of rushing. slow, yes, but very worth it when you get a good frame. I take relatively few pictures with it (for time constraints/costs, more than anything), but when you get a good frame, it is simply incredible. I don't use digital because the image quality for landscapes (most of what I shoot) isn't there yet. I have a little 2MP coolpix that I use for general shooting but I have used it a lot less than I expected I would. Strange that the electrical and computer engineer doesn't use digital... :)
