sometimes a songs lyrics are not up front in the songs design. sometimes the music or repeat chorus tends to 'drown' out the body of the lyric. I could always hear the words clearly... I just didn't put it all together.....
its profound.

If you've ever been a victim of the Though Police* a.k.a. wal-mart, this little number really seems to capture something about the mentality of our society... well I just have flashbacks of slave labor.... and watching the self justification of the people with their checkbooks... freely resigning their only vote left in this capitalist society....
can you guess what it is?

the dollar....

Soul Coughing - Pensacola

Oh pride is not a sin,
And that’s why I have gone on down to wal-mart
With my checkbook to get you some.

Like waves in which you drown me, shouting

I know you must’ve realized by now

And by the lawnchairs there
Next to the racks of guns
Your self esteem is waiting
Canned up in alluminum

* - Term used to describe wal-mart slave drivers(management/shoppers).... by my friend and former coworker apples**
** - Lifted of course from the great Orwell

*Pet*

oh precious son, step away from the window
go back to sleep

lay your head down child
I won't let the boogeyman come

counting bodies like sheep
to the rhythm of the war drum

pay no mind to the rabble
pay no mind to the rabble

head down, go to sleep
to the rhythm of the war drums

hey, don't mind what the other voices say
they don't care about you, well I do, well I do
safe from pain and truth and choice and other poison devils,
see, they don't give a fuck about you, like i do.

just stay with me, safe and ignorant,
go back to sleep
go back to sleep

lay your head down child
I won't let the boogeyman come
count the bodies like sheep
to the rhythm of the war drums

pay no mind to the rabble
pay no mind to the rabble

head down, go to sleep to the rhythm of the war drums

I'll be the one to protect you from
your enemies and all your demons

I'll be the one to protect you from
a will to survive and a voice of reason

I'll be the one to protect you from
your enemies and your choices
they're one in the same
I must isolate you
Isolate and save you from yourself

swayin to the rhythm of the new world order and
count the bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drum

the boogeymen are coming
the boogeymen are coming

keep your head down, go to sleep, to the rhythm of a war drum

stay with me
safe and ignorant
just stay with me
hold you and protect you from the other one
the evil ones
go back to
sleep

17,419 people died in 2002 as a result of alcohol-related car crashes
Where's the "war on alcohol and cars"?

"The annual global tobacco death toll is already about three million"
Where's the "war on tobacco"?

the medical profession accidentally kills more than three times as many people every year ("may be as high as 98,000" annually) as are killed by firearms from all causes — including accidents, suicides, intentional homicides, and justifiable shootings.
Where's the "war on hospitals and doctors"?

between 6120 and 7838 confirmed Iraqi civilians are dead because Emperor Bush wanted vengeance
Where's the war on... errr...

all those compared with 3000 deaths?

that hardly justifies demolishing 2 countries and alienating the last remnants of the world that tolerated the USA...

I think we've had our 3000 kills plus a bit more...

maybe we never should have given Al-Qaeda the support in the first place... but then we were trying to fight communism back then...

today at work there was a moment of selence.
the advertising pitch to me seemed sad
there were more people killed when we bombed japan
wheres their moment of silence
my mopther died on st patricks day when i was six
theres no moment of silence for that
every moment someone has died at somepoint
maybe we should just all shut up
always

My 911 was something like this. I was having breakfast before work at the eighth street cafe. CNN is always on every morning and there were memorials and that same old lady in the next booth facing me. That same woman that is obviously filthy rich and probably living in the hotel and eating all her meals there. FUCK. Anyways, as I'm waiting for my meal she starts to blather to someone across the empty restaurant, "We're spreading freedom all over Iraq..."..

blah fucking blah blah...
regurgitated ruling class bullshite.
FUCK

I've been reading "Lies and the lying liars that tell them... A fair and balanced look at the right"
and if you missed the booktv with al franken and Bill "Fair And Balanced" O'Reily.

you're can go stream it
do it.
