sometimes a songs lyrics are not up front in the songs design. sometimes the music or repeat chorus tends to 'drown' out the body of the lyric. I could always hear the words clearly... I just didn't put it all together.....
its profound.

If you've ever been a victim of the Though Police* a.k.a. wal-mart, this little number really seems to capture something about the mentality of our society... well I just have flashbacks of slave labor.... and watching the self justification of the people with their checkbooks... freely resigning their only vote left in this capitalist society....
can you guess what it is?

the dollar....

Soul Coughing - Pensacola

Oh pride is not a sin,
And that’s why I have gone on down to wal-mart
With my checkbook to get you some.

Like waves in which you drown me, shouting

I know you must’ve realized by now

And by the lawnchairs there
Next to the racks of guns
Your self esteem is waiting
Canned up in alluminum

* - Term used to describe wal-mart slave drivers(management/shoppers).... by my friend and former coworker apples**
** - Lifted of course from the great Orwell
